Bethenny Frankel’s Supermodel Cafe gets a lukewarm response as skinny culture returns

Bethenny Frankel, reality TV star and entrepreneur, has launched a new pop-up cafe in the Hamptons called Supermodel Cafe. The cafe, which opened on August 13, features a pink interior, branded merchandise, and a Bethenny-themed menu. It offers items from Frankel's viral recipes, known for transforming traditional dishes into lower-calorie alternatives. These include sandwiches and cottage cheese bagels with high-protein spreads. Despite long lines, reviews for the cafe have been mixed. Some visitors, like content creator Greta Louise, praised the food, particularly the bagels. However, many others found the food underwhelming or just "okay." Frankel has acknowledged the feedback and stated that adjustments are being made daily, defending her recipes as the best "better-for-you" versions. The Supermodel Cafe's opening coincides with renewed discussions about extreme thinness and the impact of marketing on mental health. Frankel previously founded Skinnygirl, a brand criticized for its diet culture-adjacent messaging and the use of the word "skinny." While the new cafe avoids the term "skinny," it still hints at a similar ethos, with Frankel stating "Supermodel" is a "better term" with a "tongue-in-cheek wit."
