Biden has surgery to remove skin cancer lesions

Former President Biden recently underwent surgery to remove skin cancer lesions from his forehead. His spokesperson, Kelly Scully, confirmed the procedure in a statement to media outlets. This announcement followed images of the 82-year-old showing what appeared to be a head wound after leaving church over the Labor Day weekend. The spokesperson identified the surgery as Mohs surgery. Mohs surgery is described as the most effective method for removing skin cancer. This procedure is particularly recommended for patients with a high risk of recurrence, especially in sensitive facial areas. The surgery involves the precise removal of thin skin layers. Each layer is examined for cancer cells. This process continues until no cancerous cells are detected. The primary aim of Mohs surgery is to eliminate all skin cancer while preserving healthy surrounding tissue. Previously, Biden's office had announced his diagnosis of an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May. A lesion removed from his chest was also confirmed to be cancerous.
