Bitcoin and crypto stock prices today: Investors are on edge ahead of crucial ‘Clarity Act’ Senate vote

The U.S. Senate is poised to vote on the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at providing broader regulation for the crypto industry. This legislation, which passed the House of Representatives in July 2025, is crucial for further legitimizing the crypto sector. Senate Republicans support the bill, but it needs at least seven Democratic senators to reach the 60-vote threshold for advancement. Months of negotiations have occurred, including unexpected concessions from President Trump regarding his meme coin holdings. Despite these efforts, the bill's passage remains uncertain, a sentiment reflected in the current market. Both major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, XRP, and Ethereum have seen declines in premarket trading. Stocks of crypto-adjacent companies, including Circle, Coinbase, and Robinhood, are also down today. Crypto mining firms such as CleanSpark, MARA Holdings, and Riot Platforms are experiencing slight share price drops as well. The Clarity Act builds upon the Genius Act, the first federal crypto regulation enacted in the U.S. last year.
