Bloomberg Drops $80 Million On Democrats' Midterm Push: $24 Million To Everytown, $16 Million To House Majority PAC
Michael Bloomberg has generously contributed approximately $80 million to Democratic causes, with a significant portion designated for House races. His financial support is strategically aimed at bolstering Democratic chances, particularly in contested House elections. A substantial $24 million from this sum was directed to Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization Bloomberg co-founded. Additionally, $16 million went to the House Majority PAC, a key allied super PAC supporting House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. These contributions make Bloomberg the leading disclosed donor to both recipient groups. The funding also enabled a joint ad campaign for eight Democratic women House candidates focused on gun safety. Further donations included $5 million for the League of Conservation Voters' super PAC and $3.5 million for a group supporting Democratic scientists and doctors. Smaller but still significant amounts were allocated to support Texas Senate nominee James Talarico, battleground governor's races, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Bloomberg's political adviser highlighted his belief in democratic participation and the impact of resources in campaigns. The former mayor is concentrating his efforts on the House, where Democrats are favored to win, while other donors focus on the Senate. This substantial spending by Bloomberg contrasts with significant Republican fundraising efforts from figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Party committees also show a disparity, with the RNC holding substantial funds while the DNC faces financial challenges. Bloomberg's current strategy mirrors his effective 2018 midterm spending, which is considered his most impactful campaign to date.
