Building Practical AI Agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

The AWS User Group Chennai meetup featured a presentation on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, which builds AI agents. AgentCore functions as a central control center for AI agents, handling deployment, security, and scalability. It's framework and model-agnostic, allowing flexibility in tool and model selection for a modular building approach. AgentCore includes a runtime engine, memory management (short-term and long-term), and built-in tools like a code interpreter and browser. The code interpreter allows agents to safely execute code in a sandboxed environment. The browser tool enables interaction with web interfaces, including older systems. AgentCore also provides a gateway, identity management, and comprehensive observability features. This enables secure access to tools and APIs, making it production-ready. AgentCore differs from Strands and Bedrock Agents, offering more control for enterprise-grade applications. It addresses key challenges like session management, tool integration, and observability by providing structured runtimes, secure tool access, and detailed metrics. The presentation showed how AgentCore facilitates creating reliable AI experiences suitable for various real-world applications.
