California appeals court upholds Weinstein’s rape conviction but orders resentencing
Weinstein was convicted in 2022 of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault and sentenced to 16 years
An appeals court upheld Harvey Weinstein’s 2022 rape and sexual assault conviction in California on Friday, but ordered his trial judge to resentence him.
The disgraced film tycoon, whose misconduct spurred a social movement in Hollywood, was found guilty of assaulting an Italian model in her hotel room during a film festival. Her identity was kept private during a trial in Los Angeles. Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
