Celestia Says Fibre Sustained 3.07 Tb/s In 120-Validator Benchmark
Celestia's Fibre data-availability system achieved an impressive experimental benchmark of 3.07 terabits per second. This throughput was sustained across 120 validators during a test that simulated real-world data processing requirements. The benchmark covered encoding, distribution, storage, validator signatures, and onchain commitment submission. It is crucial to understand that this figure represents a controlled test and not live user traffic on the Celestia mainnet. This result is a significant engineering achievement for the system's architecture. The data-availability layer is becoming increasingly important as blockchains segment execution, settlement, and data availability. Rollups require a robust method for publishing transaction data for verification. Celestia's design prioritizes solving this data availability bottleneck. While the benchmark suggests enough raw data capacity for nearly two billion transactions per second under specific assumptions, this should not be conflated with actual transaction counts. Fibre has demonstrated its theoretical capacity in a test environment. However, its real-world performance will be determined by its ability to handle latency, diverse hardware, and economic constraints reliably and securely. The next critical phase is proving Fibre's effectiveness in a production setting with real applications depending on it.
