Coming soon: A refreshed user interface for Google Meet hardware touch controllers, test it now in preview
An updated user interface for several touch controllers is being introduced soon. Admins are encouraged to enable the Early Preview feature to prepare for this change. The new design aims to improve efficiency and user experience by making key controls more accessible. Frequently used features like mute and hand raise are now more prominent. Less commonly used features, such as camera controls, are organized under a "More actions" menu to maintain a clean interface. The pre-call meeting experience has also been refreshed, highlighting options for meeting codes and nicknames. The touch controller UI will now resemble the Google Meet UI found on laptops and desktops for a more intuitive navigation. Early Preview Rooms (EPR) are available starting August 18th, 2025, allowing organizations to test and prepare for the update. Admins can opt devices into EPR through the Google Admin console. The plan is to expand this new UI support to all Google Meet touch controllers, including AOSP devices.
