Congresswoman Warns Incoming Socialists Are "National Security Threat," Wants Their Access To Intel Limited
Representative Nicole Malliotakis has expressed serious concerns about two Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates who are likely to be elected to Congress. She believes these individuals pose a national security risk and wants House leadership to limit their access to sensitive intelligence. Malliotakis described the candidates as "extreme, radical, and dangerous," questioning their suitability for the House of Representatives. The two candidates, Darializa Avila Chevalier and Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, won surprise primary victories in reliably Democratic districts. Both candidates have advocated for abolishing ICE and have labeled the conflict in Gaza a "genocide." Malliotakis argues that their support for the DSA platform, which includes concepts like "no jails, no cops, no borders," is fundamentally un-American. She is urging Speaker Mike Johnson to assess whether these incoming members constitute a national security threat. If Republicans maintain their majority, Malliotakis hopes Johnson will restrict their committee assignments. Her warning comes amid reports detailing the DSA's alleged efforts to cultivate connections with Chinese Communist Party officials. These reports, based on internal DSA records, suggest discussions about avoiding topics sensitive to Beijing and planning visits to China. The DSA's platform also includes calls for replacing the U.S. Constitution and abolishing institutions like prisons, the Supreme Court, and the police.
