This text introduces Wayline, an open-source, full-stack, white-label ride-hailing application built with Codename One. Codename One is a Java/Kotlin framework for native iOS, Android, desktop, and web apps from a single codebase. Wayline includes rider and driver apps, an admin console, payments, live tracking, and push notifications, all connected to a Java backend. The entire source code is free under the MIT-0 license, allowing full modification and private commercial use. Users can quickly generate a Wayline project using the Initializr, providing a foundation for customization.The application is structured into common, backend, and shared modules, all using Java, simplifying development and maintenance. The client and server communicate via generated API bindings and DTO serialization, ensuring consistency. Wayline supports running the server on JVM during development and packaging it as a native executable. The user interface adapts to the signed-in user's role (rider, driver, administrator), offering distinct workflows within a single application.Riders can search destinations, compare fares, follow drivers, and rate trips, with features like home/work shortcuts and accessibility preferences. Drivers go through signup, document submission, and then manage shifts, accept rides, navigate, and view earnings. Wayline includes background location tracking for drivers and various ride widgets like iPhone Live Activities and Android notifications for active trips.Live updates are handled via WebSockets, ensuring open apps receive real-time ride and driver location changes. Push notifications cover users with closed apps, using Push v3 PushClient API for registration and message handling. The backend manages sending these messages to appropriate users, ensuring timely delivery of ride updates and job offers. The application is designed for comprehensive white-labeling and extension, providing a complete solution for launching a ride-hailing service.
