The new dialog allows users to build custom formulas and derived metrics more efficiently. Key features include field selection menus for easier column insertion. It also provides real-time syntax and formula validation to catch errors promptly. Previously, formula creation was done via inline sidebar cards, requiring manual typing and lacking live error checking. This enhancement will lead to faster and more accurate data analysis. The update ensures greater speed and consistency in managing calculated fields. It will be available to all Google Workspace and personal Google account users. Rollout began on September 8, 2026, for Rapid Release domains and September 21, 2026, for Scheduled Release domains.
