Google Sheets has introduced support for scatter charts with multiple independent x-series. This enhancement enables users to assign distinct x-axis domains to various data series within a single chart. Previously, all series in a scatter chart were compelled to share a single x-axis. The update significantly improves compatibility when importing and exporting files with Microsoft Excel. Excel files containing scatter charts with multiple x-series will now retain their configurations when opened in Google Sheets. Conversely, Google Sheets charts with this capability will be accurately preserved in Excel. This feature is available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts. There are no admin controls for this update. End users can find instructions on adding and editing charts in the Google Help Center. The feature is rolling out gradually to Rapid Release domains starting July 29, 2026, and to Scheduled Release domains starting August 14, 2026.
