Data loss prevention policies ... Note

Data loss prevention policies for Google Calendar now available in GA

Google Calendar now offers generally available Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to safeguard sensitive information within event details. This feature enables administrators to establish and enforce rules that scan event titles, descriptions, and locations for confidential data. Admins can opt to audit sensitive content, warn users, or completely block events that violate DLP policies. The rules specifically target free-text fields like event titles, descriptions, and locations for sensitive content. Policies are applied based on the organizational unit of the event organizer, aligning with existing Workspace DLP practices. Users receive immediate notifications on the web, with customizable messages for policy violations. Blocked meeting updates on mobile devices or via the Calendar API trigger automated email alerts. The feature is disabled by default and must be configured by administrators at the organizational unit or group level. No end-user settings are required, as the system automatically applies policies. This enhancement is available for various Enterprise and Education editions of Google Workspace.
