Dell Admits It Made a Huge Mistake When It Abandoned XPS

Dell is reviving its XPS brand, recognizing the prior decision to eliminate it was a misstep. Last year, Dell simplified its laptop branding, replacing established names like XPS with variations like "Dell Pro." This change aimed to streamline its consumer laptop offerings. However, this approach proved confusing for consumers, encompassing a wide range of similar products. Dell now focuses on a simplified branding strategy, primarily using "Dell" for base models and entry-level laptops. The XPS brand will now cater to the premium consumer market, distinct from the simplified Dell lineup. Dell's COO stated they won't pursue every niche market trend, implying a focus on core areas. The company won't be producing a handheld PC, a project previously explored. Other former brands like Inspiron and Latitude will not be revived. Dell Pro continues to perform well, according to Clarke.
