Lilian is recognized as the DSF member of the month for August 2025 for her significant contributions. She actively engages with the Django community through blog posts, forum participation, and code reviews. Lilian began her journey with Django as a Djangonaut Space participant and has since advanced to become a Captain and session organizer. She has been a DSF member since March 2024 and is currently seeking new opportunities. Lilian discovered Django for a client project, valuing its security and Python-based development speed over PHP. She has experience with Flask and SQLAlchemy, and wishes Django had built-in support for Common Table Expressions without raw SQL. Her current personal project involves building an ELT pipeline for data analysis, utilizing tools like dbt and Airflow. Lilian is deeply interested in databases and their implementation, actively participating in Postgres Patch Review Workshops. She favors libraries like django-extensions, django-allauth, and django-rest-framework. Lilian highlights Djangonaut Space, the community, and the documentation as her favorite aspects of Django. She is focused on improving the Django contribution process by making the ticket lifecycle more transparent and identifying bottlenecks to guide resource allocation. Lilian encourages hesitant individuals to explore Djangonaut Space, emphasizing the learning and networking opportunities. Outside of programming, she enjoys volunteering at a community radio station, learning video production and DJing.
