Django Weblog: DSF Membership Open Space at DjangoCon US
DjangoCon US attendees are invited to a 45-minute open space session about the Django Software Foundation. This event will take place on Wednesday, August 26th, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm in the Wolf Point Ballroom. DSF Board Directors and other DSF representatives will be present for open discussion and to answer questions. Key topics will include fundraising efforts and the $500,000 goal and its funding, particularly for Django Fellows. The ongoing search for the DSF's first Executive Director will also be discussed, with applications closing on September 14, 2026. Information on individual membership, how to become a member, and the benefits of membership, such as voting rights, will be shared. The session will also cover working groups and teams, clarifying that membership is not required to join. Updates on DEP 19, concerning technical governance, and DEP 20, regarding Django's release schedule, will be provided. This open space is intended for all attendees, regardless of their current DSF membership status, to ask questions about the Foundation's operations and decision-making. Questions about the Foundation itself, not specific code issues, are encouraged. For those unable to attend, questions can be submitted via the "Contact the DSF" page or through the Django Forum.
