Google Sheets is being continuously improved to enhance its power, responsiveness, and scalability. The cell limit in Google Sheets has been doubled from 10 million to 20 million cells. This increased limit is applicable to all new, existing, and imported files. Users can now build, expand, or import spreadsheets with up to 20 million cells. Support for importing larger datasets from Microsoft Excel and CSV files is also being expanded soon with an increased byte size limit. This update applies automatically without any admin or end-user settings. The feature is rolling out gradually to Rapid Release domains starting September 10, 2026. Scheduled Release domains will see the feature starting September 28, 2026, with a rollout of up to 15 days. This expanded cell limit is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account users.
