Enabling the next era of sovereign AI: The latest Google Distributed Cloud innovations
Agentic systems are increasingly valuable for enterprises, but organizations with strict data sovereignty mandates face challenges deploying them. Sending sensitive data to public clouds is often not an option, and building private AI stacks is time-consuming. Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) air-gapped innovations now address this by enabling deployment directly where sensitive data resides. Key advancements include enterprise search powered by Gemini, support for open-weight models, turnkey ISV applications, and accelerated infrastructure. GDC aims to transform isolated infrastructure into a modern agentic innovation platform with flexibility from foundational and open models. Gemini on GDC enterprise search offers a conversational interface for querying vast data repositories within sovereign perimeters. It supports multimodal data like text, audio, and video with low-latency inference and built-in retrieval-augmented generation. GDC air-gapped now generally available supports Gemini 3.5 Flash and leading open models like Gemma and Mistral, offering workload choice. The platform features a new, elevated Infrastructure-as-a-Service stack for running AI and traditional workloads together. This includes A4 Ultra machine types with NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs for high-performance agentic infrastructure and resilient, managed networking solutions. An expanding ISV partner ecosystem brings familiar software like Teradata, Solo.io, and Mattermost to run natively on GDC. These integrations allow organizations to leverage AI without compromising data privacy or leaving familiar tools behind, transforming sensitive data into actionable insights within compliant, secure, and controlled air-gapped environments.
