ESMA appoints Peter Tkáč as the new member of its Management Board
The European Securities and Markets Authority, ESMA, has appointed Peter Tkáč as a new member of its Management Board. Tkáč, from Národná Banka Slovenska in Slovakia, was elected at a Board of Supervisors meeting on June 30, 2026. He will serve the remainder of the term of the outgoing member, Ante Žigman, until March 31, 2027. There is a possibility for this term to be renewed. Tkáč's appointment is effective from July 1, 2026.The Management Board oversees ESMA's mission and tasks defined by its founding Regulation. Verena Ross, the Chair of ESMA, will continue to chair the Management Board. The other members include representatives from financial authorities in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, and Malta. ESMA's Executive Director and a representative from the European Commission are also non-voting members. ESMA is the European Union's financial markets regulator and supervisor.
