ESMA publishes latest edition of its newsletter

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published its latest edition of the Spotlight on Markets Newsletter, covering June and July 2025. The newsletter highlights ESMA's efforts to streamline financial transaction reporting and gather feedback on simplifying financial reporting and funds' data reporting. In the crypto area, ESMA identified opportunities to strengthen MiCA authorisation, with a focus on the Malta Financial Services Authority's approaches. The newsletter also outlines four guiding principles on making sustainability claims in non-regulatory communications, along with practical examples of good and poor practices. ESMA and National Competent Authorities carried out a Common Supervisory Action on integrating sustainability risks and disclosures in the investment management sector, finding overall satisfactory compliance but opportunities for improvement. The newsletter features key publications, including Ediphy becoming the first Consolidated Tape Provider for bonds and advice on eligible assets for UCITS. Other publications cover the DLT Pilot Regime, EMIR 3, and guidelines for assessing knowledge and competence under MiCA. The newsletter also warns investors of the risks when CASPs offer both regulated and unregulated products. Finally, the newsletter provides an overview of open consultations and invites readers to follow ESMA on LinkedIn and X for updates.
