ESMA selects Ediphy (fairCT) to become the first Consolidated Tape Provider for bonds

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has selected Ediphy (fairCT) as the first Consolidated Tape Provider (CTP) for bonds in the EU. This decision marks a significant step towards establishing consolidated tapes in the EU, contributing to the development of capital markets in Europe. ESMA assessed applications against criteria listed in the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR) and chose Ediphy (fairCT) due to its high overall score. The fairCT initiative was catalysed by Ediphy, a FinTech company involved in the fixed income space since 2018. ESMA is now inviting Ediphy (fairCT) to apply for authorisation, which will allow it to operate the CTP for bonds for five years under ESMA's direct supervision. The CTP will provide a consolidated view of market activity for bonds in the EU, benefiting market participants with various use cases. Ediphy (fairCT) meets all the selection criteria, ensuring it can provide accurate and reliable data. The establishment of a CTP is a key component of the Savings and Investment Union (SIU) and will further develop capital markets in Europe. ESMA's decision is a significant milestone in the development of the EU's fixed income markets. More information on Consolidated Tape Providers is available on ESMA's website, and additional background on fairCT can be found on its website.
