The EuroPython conference in Prague hosted successful post-conference sprints, drawing open-source maintainers and contributors. These two-day events facilitated collaboration and coding, resulting in over 81 merged pull requests across various projects. The sprints provided a low-barrier entry point for newcomers to contribute to the Python ecosystem. Participants engaged in bug fixing, documentation improvements, and brainstorming future development. Notable projects like CPython, BeeWare, and Django saw significant contributions and merged pull requests. BeeWare even recognized first-time contributors with challenge coins. Maintainers expressed high satisfaction with the organization and the engagement of participants. The sprints fostered a spirit of "show up and contribute," making them an effective way to grow open-source communities. Many projects left with ongoing reviews and plans for future collaboration. The event encourages both maintainers to bring their projects and individuals to try contributing to open source.
