Every executive needs Jamie Dimon’s mind on tap. Use AI to build this
Ryan Sparks, a financial executive, found inspiration in Jamie Dimon's rigorous questioning and critical thinking. Unable to access Dimon directly after changing roles, Sparks used generative AI to create a digital version of this challenged thinking style. This led to the idea of senior leaders using AI not just for output, but to enhance their own cognitive processes. Existing advisory boards and teams have limitations, making it difficult for leaders to receive candid feedback, especially in today's complex business environment. Generative AI offers a solution by allowing leaders to construct personalized boards of directors tailored to their specific thinking needs. Drawing on Albert Bandura's theories, leaders can build self-agency through intentionality, forethought, self-reactiveness, and self-reflectiveness. The article proposes five essential AI-powered board member personas: The Provocateur, inspired by Jamie Dimon, challenges assumptions. The Systems Architect, like Satya Nadella, focuses on organizational implementation. The Pattern Spotter, akin to Reed Hastings, identifies emerging trends. The Outside-In Voice, exemplified by Mira Murati, brings external perspectives. The Humanist, inspired by Jacinda Ardern, considers human impact. To create a personalized AI board, leaders should feed AI systems with source materials reflecting the thinking styles of desired personas. Then, present a specific decision to this AI board to gain diverse critical insights before making the final judgment.
