Exclusive: House GOP clings to 2026 fundraising lead

House Republicans currently hold a narrow fundraising lead entering the final stretch of the midterms. This is a significant shift from previous election cycles where Democrats consistently outraised their Republican counterparts. The National Republican Congressional Committee has matched the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in fundraising this cycle. The NRCC has amassed a substantial war chest to support Republican candidates and highlight Democratic shortcomings. In the third quarter alone, both committees raised similar amounts, with the NRCC slightly edging out the DCCC. The NRCC also entered October with a larger cash reserve than the DCCC. A significant portion of the NRCC's September fundraising came from a transfer from the Republican National Committee. This financial momentum is attributed, in part, to the strong fundraising efforts of Speaker Mike Johnson. Since becoming Speaker, Johnson has successfully raised over $220 million for House Republicans. This has alleviated earlier concerns about his ability to fundraise effectively.
