Huang contends that this market reaction misunderstands the impact, as cheaper open models will increase demand for hardware. He views restricting open models for national security as potentially making America more vulnerable. Huang suggested that open models enhance security through public inspection and that China's models do not inherently create backdoors. He advocated for Anthropic to make its secure model, Claude Mythos, widely available, arguing that restricting it does not benefit the U.S. Huang sees the AI race as an ongoing process, not a competition with a definitive end. He also noted that companies should be penalized for misconduct like stealing intellectual property, but not for the models themselves.
