Google is expanding Gemini in Google Docs capabilities to eleven new languages, including Mandarin, Dutch, and Polish. These languages join the previously supported English, Spanish, and French, among others. Gemini in Docs now offers a centralized experience for generating, writing, and refining documents using Workspace Intelligence. The updated "Help me create" feature generates formatted first drafts by pulling information from Drive, Gmail, Chat, and the web. "Help me write" allows users to prompt Gemini for edits within the document or on selected text. Gemini's suggested edits are private until approved by the user. The "Match writing style" feature ensures a consistent tone across documents, even with multiple contributors. "Match doc format" enables Gemini to replicate the formatting and structure of a source document for new content. To generate a new doc, users prompt Gemini in a blank document. For existing docs, edits are prompted from the bottom bar. These features are available by default for Admins if Gemini for Workspace in Drive is enabled. End users require Workspace smart features to be enabled. The rollout begins July 15, 2026, for Rapid Release domains and August 1, 2026, for Scheduled Release domains. Availability spans Business, Enterprise, Education, and Consumer tiers, with specific add-ons offering higher usage limits.
