Numerous eye drop products have recently been recalled due to concerns about a lack of sterility. This latest recall involves two TopCare brand eye drop products sold at Wegmans grocery stores. The manufacturer, TopCo, issued the recall due to potential sterility assurance concerns. This situation is part of a broader trend, as similar recalls have occurred frequently over the past few years. In May 2025, nearly 76,000 cases of eye care products were recalled for unacceptable quality and lack of sterility. Earlier this year, over 3.1 million bottles under various brands, including TopCare, were recalled because their sterility could not be assured. Last month, 40,000 bottles of Prestige Brands Holdings eye drops were recalled due to a heightened risk of harm from sterility issues. Non-sterile eye drops can cause serious infections or even blindness. The recalled TopCare products are Original Eye Drops and Dry Eye Relief Eye Drops. These products were sold at Wegmans locations across nine states and the District of Columbia. Consumers with the recalled eye drops should not use them and can return them to Wegmans for a full refund.
