Adam Carolla launched a strong verbal attack on San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie following an interview with CNN. In the interview, Mayor Lurie stated that San Francisco had strayed from its path and become "entrapped in our progressive values." He highlighted the city's past struggles with overdoses and car break-ins, noting improvements in the latter. Lurie, a moderate Democrat, still supports progressive causes like immigrant and LGBTQ+ rights. However, he believes tolerating street drug use and business theft is not progressive. Carolla vehemently disagreed with Lurie's assessment and the underlying progressive ideology. He criticized these "progressive ideas" for ruining cities and causing harm. Carolla used a boat analogy to describe his view of progressive governance, suggesting it leads to a slower decline rather than a solution. He also pointed to other cities he believes have suffered similar fates. Carolla advocates for a more administrative approach to mayorship, focusing on practical issues like crime and budget management, rather than abstract values. Lurie's remarks, however, have garnered bipartisan support, with some strategists and even former President Trump acknowledging his efforts.
