FBI Made Over 8,900 Arrests, Located 1,410 Child Victims Under Operation Summer Heat 2.0

The FBI's Operation Summer Heat 2.0, active from June 1 to September 20, has resulted in 8,927 arrests and the location of 1,410 children. This operation saw a 3% increase in arrests and a 34% increase in children located compared to Operation Summer Heat 1.0. Additionally, seizures of weapons significantly increased by 120%, with 5,013 firearms confiscated. The operation also led to the seizure of substantial amounts of cocaine and fentanyl. Six most-wanted fraudsters were apprehended, and six cybercriminals were extradited. Various federal, state, local, and tribal partners collaborated in these efforts. FBI officials highlighted the importance of these partnerships and long-term incarceration for public safety. This year has also seen the largest year-to-year decrease in violent crime since 1936. A report from the Council on Criminal Justice indicated a decline in homicides, aggravated assaults, and gun assaults. The Trump administration credits its policies, including the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants, for lower crime rates. However, the Council on Criminal Justice suggests multiple factors contribute to the consistent crime decline. The Department of Homeland Security continues to deport dangerous illegal immigrants and maintains a public database of over 40,000 such individuals.
