Firefox 158 Now Available With JPEG-XL Support By Default

Firefox 158 has been released, now featuring JPEG XL image support enabled by default. This makes .jxl files a standard format within the browser, alongside JPEG, PNG, and GIF. The browser also automatically includes "image/jxl" in its default Accept header for image requests. Previously, JPEG XL support was considered an experimental option in Firefox. This release enhances the functionality of Smart Window's form filling capabilities. Users will experience faster form filling when interacting with fields or selecting fill options. For developers, Firefox 158 introduces support for CSS typed arithmetic. This allows for more advanced use of functions like calc(), including division of values with different units. These developer-focused improvements are part of the ongoing evolution of web technologies. The complete release notes and binaries are accessible through provided links.
