Fiserv Puts Stablecoin Banking Platform Live With North Dakota Roughrider Coin
Fiserv has launched its digital-asset platform, now live with financial institution clients. Bank of North Dakota's Roughrider Coin, a dollar-backed stablecoin, is its first production use case. VersaBank is the issuer, Fireblocks provides the digital-asset infrastructure, and Solana processes transactions. This integration brings stablecoin settlement closer to existing core banking systems used by traditional financial institutions. Roughrider Coin aims to enhance money movement within North Dakota's interbank network. Fiserv's platform simplifies the integration of issuance, settlement, wallet infrastructure, and core financial system connections for banks. This development signifies a shift for stablecoins away from being exclusively crypto payment rails. Solana gains a new institutional payment use case beyond retail DeFi. Fiserv's extensive distribution network within banks is a key advantage for broad adoption. The focus is on improving back-end banking processes like settlement speed and reconciliation through stablecoins.
