Florida court pauses Miami land transfer for Trump presidential library

A Florida judge has temporarily halted the transfer of downtown Miami land intended for Donald Trump's presidential library. The lawsuit was filed by historian Marvin Dunn, who argued for greater public involvement in the process. Miami-Dade College transferred the land, valued at $67 million, to the state, which then planned to donate it. Judge Ruiz ruled the public notification of the meeting where the land transfer was approved was insufficient. Dunn's attorney praised the decision, highlighting its public importance and the need for proper notice. The college's legal team plans to appeal the ruling, which doesn't permanently prevent the land donation. The issue revolves around whether the college violated Florida's Sunshine Law requiring transparency in government actions. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has previously expressed support for the library's location in Miami. The temporary block delays, but does not definitively stop, the project. The case underscores concerns about transparency and public input in government decisions.
