Frozen vegetables recalled over listeria fears: Toss these bags of peas and carrots right now

The FDA is alerting the public about a voluntary recall of Endico brand frozen vegetables due to potential listeria contamination. New York-based Endico Potatoes is recalling peas and carrots, and mixed vegetables. These products were sold between July 18 and August 4 in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, and Washington, D.C. The company initiated the recall after sampling revealed the presence of listeria bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause severe illness, including fever, nausea, and abdominal pain. It poses a particular risk to pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, potentially causing miscarriages or stillbirths in pregnant women. Affected products are in 2.5-pound clear plastic bags with specific lot and production dates. Consumers are advised not to consume these products and to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. No illnesses have been reported to date, and investigations are ongoing.
