Futures Slide As Market Runs Out Of AI Patience, Oil Jumps On Saudi Attacks
US futures indicate a lower opening, with the AI trade experiencing volatility due to mixed capital expenditure outlooks from Meta and Tesla. Geopolitical tensions, including attacks in Saudi Arabia and potential renewed strikes on Iran, have pushed Brent crude oil prices above $112. This has triggered a flight to quality, with Treasury yields falling despite rising oil prices and French bond yields soaring. In premarket trading, major tech stocks, particularly Tesla, are down significantly following their respective company reports. Lam Research also tumbled on a weak forecast, impacting other chipmakers. Oil prices surged following attacks on Saudi Aramco facilities and an airport, with further warnings issued regarding potential targeting of US bases. Treasuries are seeing strong demand across the curve, driven by AI concerns and a spike in French yields. The yen and Swiss franc are leading currency gains, while the US dollar index remains relatively stable. Gold and silver prices are down, failing to act as safe-haven assets, and Bitcoin has also seen a decline.
