Gemini in Google Classroom is expanding to users of all ages, with contextualized Gemini starter prompts for students
Gemini is expanding its availability in Google Classroom to K-12 and higher education students of all ages starting August 10, 2026. Previously launched for educators and older students, Gemini in Classroom will now offer a guided space for all students with administrative access to interact with AI tools. Students can access a Gemini tab within Classroom to transform course materials into interactive study aids like flashcards and practice quizzes. Those with Gemini Notebook access can further create study guides, infographics, and audio overviews from teacher-provided content. New starter prompts on the student Gemini tab are now contextualized with information directly from Google Classroom assignments. This eliminates the need for students to manually input assignment details, grounding AI interactions in their schoolwork. Students can also access "Learn with Gemini" from the "Due Soon" section of the Classroom homepage for guided help. This feature helps students create personalized study materials based on their curriculum. Gemini in Classroom is globally available in supported languages where Gemini is also offered. Administrators control access for students, especially for those under 18, through specific settings in the Admin console.
