Gemini in Google Docs now enables users to create and edit images, diagrams, and infographics directly within their documents. This new functionality allows for the generation of contextually relevant visuals without the need for external tools. Users can also refine existing visuals and graphics using natural language prompts. Key capabilities include creating infographics or diagrams to summarize documents, refining existing visuals by adjusting aspects like aspect ratio or style, and creating or editing multiple visuals simultaneously. Access to these features is available via the bottom bar or the Gemini side panel in Google Docs. This feature is currently limited to the web. For administrators, these features are enabled by default if Gemini for Workspace in Drive is active. End users must have Workspace smart features enabled to utilize these capabilities. The rollout began with a gradual release on July 28, 2026. Availability spans various Google Workspace editions, including Business, Enterprise, Education, and Consumer tiers, along with specific Education Add-ons.
