Educators can now use Gemini to create custom stories within Read Along in Google Classroom. This feature enhances the ability to differentiate instruction by generating content tailored to student needs. Teachers can request stories on specific topics or plots, setting target grade levels and including desired details. After Gemini generates a story, educators can review and edit it before assigning it to students. This expansion allows Read Along to be used effectively with older students by aligning reading levels with classroom content. To use this feature, educators access it from the assignment creation screen by selecting "Generate" in Read Along. Admins for existing Workspace for Education customers need to enable Read Along in the Admin Console. New Workspace for Education customers will have Read Along automatically enabled. The feature is available for Google Workspace Education Plus and Teaching and Learning add-on customers. A gradual rollout for visibility begins on September 23, 2025. Help Center resources are available for both administrators and end-users.
