Google Workspace admins now have enhanced logging for Google Chat app usage within their organizations. These improved logs provide deeper insights into how Chat apps are being utilized. Admins can now track which Chat apps are added to or removed from specific Spaces, and by whom. Furthermore, they can identify the most popular Chat apps across their entire organization. This new logging capability is collected by default and accessible through BigQuery log exports and the Reports API. The Security Investigation Tool will also offer access to these logs in the near future. End users will experience no direct impact from this change. The feature is available now, with audit logs accessible via the Reports API to all Google Workspace customers. BigQuery access is provided to specific Enterprise and Education editions, with more coming soon. The Security Investigation Tool will also be available to more premium editions and Cloud Identity Premium. Resources are available in the Google Workspace Admin Help Center for further information.
