He believes GitHub is no longer suitable for serious work, causing him to feel blocked and unproductive. After 18 years, Hashimoto has decided to move his Ghostty terminal emulator project. He acknowledges his desire for GitHub to improve but prioritizes coding and productivity. Hashimoto is actively planning a migration, considering both commercial and open-source alternatives. He intends to gradually remove Ghostty's dependencies on GitHub. He plans to maintain a read-only mirror of Ghostty on GitHub for now alongside his personal projects. The project's move will focus on Ghostty's open source community. Hashimoto hopes for future improvements from GitHub.
