GNOME Boxes has reached beta, a new tool for accessing virtual systems. Sushi, the file previewer for Nautilus, has seen further development. Papers 51 Beta now supports adding visual signatures to PDF documents. Germany's Sovereign Tech Agency has initiated a fellowship program, dedicating a GNOME fellow for two years. This fellow's role is to assist GNOME developers with design feedback, mockups, and community management. The GNOME Design Team member, Philipp Sauberzweig, will be undertaking this fellowship. He believes in free and independent access to technology through open-source devices. Sauberzweig aims to expand the design community and improve design tooling. He plans to increase visibility through blog posts, presentations, and workshops. Newcomers will find clearer instructions for contributing to design efforts, including user testing and mockup creation. Design reviews will also serve as mentorship opportunities. Additionally, Jakub Beránek received a fellowship to improve the Rust toolchain. Other fellows include prominent figures in the Linux kernel and Python development.
