Google is simplifying its AI offerings for education customers by consolidating Gemini Education and Gemini Education Premium into a single add-on subscription called Google AI Pro for Education. This new offering includes all the advanced features previously available in Gemini Education Premium. Google AI Pro for Education grants access to Gemini within Google Workspace apps, providing features like AI-powered note-taking and summaries in Google Meet. It also offers expanded access to premium models and features in Gemini for Education and NotebookLM. Furthermore, it enhances security through AI-enhanced data loss prevention. New customers can now purchase the Google AI Pro for Education add-on, while the previous Gemini add-ons are no longer available for sale. Existing customers with Gemini Education will automatically gain all premium features, with their subscription renamed at renewal. Those with Gemini Education Premium will not experience immediate changes but will be migrated at their next renewal. No action is required from end users. Updates to the Admin Console are expected to be completed by August 28, 2025. This change affects Google Workspace for Education customers who previously purchased the Gemini add-ons. Google AI Pro for Education is available for Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus editions.
