Google Apps Script has officially been designated a Google Workspace core service. This elevates its status under the Google Cloud Terms of Service and Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service. Consequently, Apps Script now benefits from the same enterprise-grade data protection and administrative controls as other core services. This change allows organizations to deploy Apps Script with greater confidence. Apps Script is a JavaScript platform for customizing and automating Google Workspace applications. It enables users to create custom menus, dialogs, and sidebars within applications like Sheets and Docs. Furthermore, it can be used to write custom functions for complex calculations and build internal add-ons. For administrators, no action is needed if Apps Script is already enabled, as the new protections are automatic. Organizations that previously restricted Apps Script due to concerns can now enable it for secure automation. End users require no action and can find resources to get started. Apps Script is now universally available for all Google Workspace customers.
