Google Chrome Is Switching To a Two-Week Release Cycle

Google is speeding up Chrome's release cycle, transitioning from a four-week to a two-week schedule starting September 8th with version 153. This change aims to provide users and developers quicker access to the latest improvements and new features. The company believes smaller release scopes will minimize disruptions and simplify debugging processes. They emphasize that recent enhancements will maintain Chrome's stability. Weekly security updates will continue to be provided between major releases. A Chrome Beta version will be available three weeks before each stable release, recommended for developer testing. The existing eight-week Extended Stable release schedule for enterprises remains untouched. Chromebooks will also receive the new releases after dedicated platform testing. Further details regarding milestone updates for managed devices will be announced soon. This alteration affects desktop, Android, and iOS versions of Chrome. The Dev and Canary channels of Chrome will not be affected by this change. Google prioritizes a seamless experience with these updates.
