Google Meet live captions are expanding to Cantonese

Google Meet is adding live caption support for the Cantonese language. This enhancement aims to improve accessibility and inclusion for Cantonese speakers. When a Cantonese speaker talks, their words will appear as real-time captions on the screen. This feature will assist users in following along and participating more effectively in meetings. It ensures that important discussions and training sessions are understandable to all participants. This is a new, end-user driven feature with no admin controls for enabling or disabling it. Cantonese live captions will be accessible to all eligible users by default. The rollout for this feature begins on October 9, 2025, and is expected to take 1 to 3 days for full visibility. It will be available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts. Users can find more information about live captions in Meet via the Help Center.
