Google Meet now supports sending 1080p HD video from ChromeOS meeting room hardware
Google Meet room hardware running on ChromeOS now supports full HD video (1080p), extending a previous web-based feature. This higher resolution is utilized when increased bandwidth is beneficial for sharp room video. This includes scenarios where participants view the room on large screens, especially in full-screen or 1:1 layouts. Full HD is also activated when a participant "pins" the room's video feed. Additionally, all recorded meetings will capture the room's video in full HD quality. This capability requires a high-resolution camera, sufficient processing power, and a fast, stable internet connection. Meet automatically adjusts video quality downward if network issues are detected to maintain a smooth experience. There are no admin controls or end-user settings; the upgrade occurs automatically. This feature is currently available to all Google Workspace customers with Google Meet hardware devices. This enhancement ensures clearer video output from meeting rooms in key situations.
