Google is introducing support for private personal Android apps on Google Play. This allows users to create apps using tools like Google AI Studio and run them on their own devices. These personal apps will not be publicly discoverable in the Play Store. They will also only ever be accessible to the creator. This feature caters to the growing trend of individuals building custom apps for their specific needs. Previously, using such apps on an Android device required a public Play Store listing. This limitation often led developers to opt for web apps instead of native Android solutions. With the new feature, users can build and launch apps for their personal use directly. All new personal apps must still adhere to Google Play's existing policies. Initially, this functionality will be accessible to users in the U.S. who are 18 years or older. In the future, users will be able to share these private apps with a select group of trusted friends. If a personal app proves popular, it can later be transitioned to a publicly published app on the Play Store after undergoing necessary reviews.
