Google Vault now offers expanded support for the Gemini app by adding retention rules and litigation holds. Previously, administrators could only search and export Gemini app conversations. This enhancement allows administrators to create, update, and delete default and custom retention rules for Gemini app data. They can also place litigation holds on Gemini app data for specific organizational units or users. Google Vault is a comprehensive tool for eDiscovery and information governance within Google Workspace. This update enables users to manage regulatory and legal eDiscovery for the Gemini app from a central location. The support is specifically for the Gemini app and does not extend to Gemini features integrated into other Google Workspace applications. Vault retention rules and holds will always override other administrative or user settings. For instance, if a user deletes a conversation, a Vault hold will ensure the data is still retained and accessible to administrators. API support for these features is expected in the coming weeks.
