Google Workspace Updates Weekly Recap - June 12, 2026
Google Drive is launching alignment approvals, a lightweight system for document sign-offs that doesn't reset approval flows when edits are made. This allows collaborative editing even when a document is partially approved. Gemini in Classroom can now convert rubric files and images into Google Classroom rubrics, with this feature controlled by an Admin console setting. The Workspace Policy API now includes mutate endpoints for DLP rules and detectors, enabling super admins to fully automate the management of DLP policies. Google Meet room hardware running ChromeOS now supports sending 1080p HD video, extending a previously launched web capability. Finally, Google Vault has expanded its capabilities to include retention rules and litigation holds for the Gemini app on both web and mobile platforms. This builds upon existing Vault functionality for searching and exporting Gemini app conversations.
