Google Workspace Updates Weekly Recap - September 19, 2025

When users copy Calendar events, the Meet conference link won't be duplicated, ensuring privacy and association with the original event. Google Meet links will now appear in the location field for invitations to external calendar apps to facilitate easier access. Chat apps will be automatically installed in new conversations after user installation, simplifying app inclusion. Client-side encrypted Google Sheets can now be converted to Excel files after a Vault or Takeout export. The "Manage Google Meet hardware and calendars" privilege will no longer grant organization-wide calendar access by October 15, 2025, improving security. Quizzes created in the Gemini app are now accessible to users under 18 years old. Ask Gemini in Meet will soon become available for select users to facilitate meeting summarization and action item identification. Proactive Gemini-generated insights will appear in Forms for short-answer and paragraph questions in response review. Users can now share customizable Gems (personalized Gemini versions) within and outside their organizations. Gemini in Chrome will be generally available soon, and admins can pre-configure access for their users.
