Hamas releases 7 Israeli hostages as part of Gaza peace deal

Hamas released seven Israeli hostages on Monday as part of a Gaza peace deal brokered by the Trump administration. These hostages, primarily civilians, had been held captive in Gaza for over two years. Their release was a critical condition set by Israel and the U.S. to end the war. The initial release coincided with President Trump's arrival in Israel to solidify his Gaza peace plan. As per the agreement, Hamas was obligated to release all twenty live hostages by noon. The released hostages were transferred to the Red Cross for delivery to Israeli forces. The hostages are taken to a military base outside Gaza for reunion with families and medical treatment in Israeli hospitals. The hostages endured harsh conditions in underground tunnels, lacking food, water, and medical care. Hamas must also recover the remains of 28 deceased hostages, including two Americans. In exchange, Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Palestinians detained after October 7.
